Thank you for choosing the Peripheral Electronics/ iSimple Automotive Media Gateway as your OEM integration solution.

Follow these steps to update the firmware on your interface module to the most current firmware available. This will ensure optimal performance and latest features for your interface while enabling it to work in the latest vehicle applications. This process is intended to be performed by an authorized Peripheral Electronics dealer.

Requirements before you begin:

1	PC or Laptop running Windows XP	(NOT compatible with any other operating systems)
2	Administrative rights on the Windows XP computer	This is required for installing the USB driver pack and updating software
3	Standard to 5-Pin mini USB cable
4	12-Volt power supply	(only needed in some cases, depending on Media Gateway Interface version)

THE UPDATE PROCESS

Step 2	Choose a location on your hard drive to save the file	Note: You may want to make a new folder called “Gateway Update” and save all the files in that folder.

Step 3	A. Right-click on the file and choose "Extract All" from the menu B. Click "Next" C. Click "Next" again D. Click "Finish" Note: If you have installed WinZip, WinRAR, PKZip or another file decompression program, your screen will look different than the series at right.	Note: You may want to make a new folder called “Gateway Update” and save all the files in that folder.

Step 4	Prepare the Gateway for programming by flipping all dipswitches down (ON) Note: This is REQUIRED for programming

Step 5	Determine the version of your interface Figure A. If the serial number on the side of your interface module is PX0208.1X, proceed to Step 6. -OR- Figure B. If the serial number on the side of your interface module is PX0208.2X or higher. Please skip step 6, and proceed to step 7.	Figure A. Figure B.

Step 6	Early Gateway modules (serial number lower than PX0208.20) did not fully support plug-n-program USB updating. Therefore it is necessary to supply 12 volt power to the interface as well as connecting the USB cable to a computer for programming. Connect any Media Gateway Vehicle Specific Harness (PGHXXX) into the Gateway module and apply power and ground to the corresponding pins (see photo at right). This can be done on the bench, and connected to a power supply, or simply in a vehicle connected to the vehicle’s wiring harness behind the radio.

Step 7	Connect a 5-Pin Mini USB cable into the USB port on the side of the interface

Step 8	Connect the standard (large) end of the USB cable into a Laptop or PC running Windows XP

Step 9	Windows XP will prompt you to install a new USB driver for this device

Step 10	Browse to the file folder where you unzipped and saved the USB driver pack in Step 2

Step 11	Windows XP may display a warning message that this software has not passed the windows Logo verification Please Click “Continue Anyway”

Step 12	USB Driver installation is confirmed Click Finish

Step 13	Run USBPROG.EXE (downloaded in Step 1)

Step 14	Load the firmware file to program onto the interface module Click the box with 3 dots “…” to select the firmware file you downloaded in Step 3

Step 15	Browse to the file folder location where you saved the firmware file earlier in Step 2

Step 16	Click the “PROGRAM” button DO NOT disconnect the Gateway Interface from the computer during this update process	Note: Programming usually takes 20-30 seconds depending on the speed of your computer Important: Do not disconnect the interface from the computer during this update process

Step 17	A message will appear indicating that the programming is successful Click “OK”	Note: in the event that programming was unsuccessful, contact Peripheral Electronics Tech Support @ 727-572-9255 ext. 230

Step 18	USB Update is complete Carefully disconnect the interface module from the USB cable

Step 19	Return all 4 dipswitches to the OFF position (UP)	All dipswitches need to be in the OFF position, unless another configuration is noted for your specific application in your PXAMG owner’s manual.

Step 20	Install the Gateway in your vehicle and enjoy all the latest features available for HD Radio, iPod, or Auxiliary audio input from your factory radio
